Pet Emergencies
Acorn House provides 24-hour hospitalisation on-site for patients that have been admitted to the hospital before 11pm each day. This service is provided by our own team of vets and nurses. If your pet is admitted to our hospital, they will be cared for at Acorn House site for the duration of their stay.

Acorn House clients should call the following number, whatever the time of day or night and calls will be diverted to the appropriate team:
Calls made during our standard opening hours (Mon-Fri 8am to 8pm and Sat 8am to 4:30pm) will be taken by the Client Care team at Acorn House and an emergency appointment will be offered at the usual Acorn House Hospital site in Brickhill, MK41 7HN.

Calls made outside our standard opening hours but before 11pm Monday – Sunday will be taken by the on-call team at Acorn House and an emergency appointment will be offered at the usual Acorn House Hospital site in Brickhill, MK41 7HN.
Calls made between 11pm and 8am Monday – Sunday will be taken by the on-call team at the Royal Veterinary College, and an emergency appointment will be offered at the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals, Royal Veterinary College, Hawkshead Lane, Hatfield, Herts, AL9 7TA.

Clients ringing outside of standard opening hours but before 11pm will hear a recorded message giving three options:
- Option 1 – to listen to our opening hours
- Option 2 – to speak to the duty nurse in the first instance
- Option 3 – to speak to the duty nurse if there is no answer on option 2
Please select the option you require.
The nurse will take some basic information and ask the duty vet to call you back to arrange to see your pet at the surgery.
Clients ringing after 11pm will hear a recorded message and the call will be transferred to the Queen Mother Hospital for Animals once the recording has finished.
Our calls are recorded for training and monitoring purposes.
You should call your own vet if you are not registered with us and you will be directed to their 24-hour emergency service.
